YOGA FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS

 

Sumati offers customised group classes for Primary School students to aid in body awareness and calming of the mind. 
 

Classes are based on the Hatha yoga practice (beginner to intermediate levels), where movements are gentle and linked to the breath as the practice is used to relax the body, clear the mind and connect inwards. Meditation techniques are also adopted within the practice to assist with student relaxation.
 

Yoga has multitudes of benefits and supports individuals across all ages, genders, strengths, skills. Specifically, in relation to children, yoga assists to:

 

  • Understand the breath and its relationship the body and systems 

  • Understand the bodies movement and abilities (body awareness) 

  • Teach calming techniques relating to the body and mind 

  • Build concentration/focus 

  • Increase individual confidence and positive self-image 

  • Teaches acceptance and tolerance to each other

Sumati offers customised group classes for Secondary School students to aid in body awareness, stress reduction and calming of the mind.
 

We are well aware that through our adolescent lives individuals are confronted with many changes and challenges, each bringing an array of emotions. Through the incorporation of yoga practices, a framework of support is generated and assists individuals to confront the task at hand through a calm perception.

 

Classes are based on the Hatha yoga practices, where movements are gentle and linked to the breath. Our main teaching goals of the classes are to aid in physical relaxation, clearing the mind (promoting stillness) and connecting inwards. 

 

Some benefits for adolescence individuals include:

Sumati offers customised group classes for adult teaching staff to aid in body awareness and calming of the mind.

 

The teaching staff's physical and mental health/wellbeing is often overlooked within schools, with the main focus being on the students. However, this is why Sumati have identified the importance of helping teachers and staff to calm their mind, tune into their body, open their alignment and simply be in the now.

 

This assist with reducing stress and pressure whilst also increasing their performance and evidently becoming role models among their students.

Classes are Hatha Inspired, with conscious awareness placed on the breath and linking this to movement within the body, working towards stilling the mind and opening the flow of energy.
